Brian O'Neill made a presentation to the Planning Commission last night. In addition to a review of the previous concepts, Mr. O'Neill presented a sketch of a new idea for two building on the site matching the scale of the current structures. Bottom line, Mr. O'Neill would like to move forward and work with the community but he needs some guidance other than "bring me a rock". He even offered to give a contribution of $5K so that SIC could hire an architect...
The audience participation included several commenters: Pleas to not forget the underlying environmental issues when focussed on the buildings and potential overlay. One commenter observed that this was a poor investment and that the neighbors do not have any obligation to bail out the investors.
PC folks asked a few questions, discussing potential overlay district and "horizontal mixed use" (which is what we have now) and need to bring a resolution to the table.
All things considered I believe this was a positive interchange.
