Never a dull moment (or a short meeting)

I attended the Commissioners Meeting on the 21st. The agenda appeared to be fairly "tight" but boy was I surprised at how long even the simplest item took.
A few items worthy of note (at least to me)
  • The Verizon Cable deal: Although the intention was good I was quite surprised that we had to listen to someone read large portions of the proposed contract.
  • Wayne Master Plan: Wow, this really went long. The intention was a reminder that the Master Plan was on the next meeting agenda but we got in to a lengthy debate about the "vision" contained in the plan regarding building setbacks and parking. Wasn't there some old philosopher that said that one person's vision could be seen as "visions" by another?
  • Open Space Referendum: Again the puprose was merely to introduce the ordinance with the discussion taking place, as needed, at the next meeting. The underlying action is to get a bollot question on the November Ballot so that the voters can make a decision to authorize borrowing NOT to authorize, borrow, purchase or otherwise acquire open space. The discussion about the definition was useful and may reveal more about the speakers than about the ordinance per se.
